I recently wrote a chapter in a book called Power to Change.  It includes my chapter - 5 P's to Making Life Enhancing Changes as well as chapters from 18 other experts in various modalities of creating change.

Stepping into your Power - Step 2

Last time I talked about the first step in my 5-step process of overcoming fears.  Step 1 was to identify your fear and I showed you how to do some digging to find the core or deeper fear.  Today I will cover step 2 – Accepting it

This step involves accepting the fear and the really feeling the feelings generated by the fear.  Feeling its effect on your body and on your emotions.  Is it causing you tension, is it leaving you feeling stuck or helpless?  Allow yourself to feel those emotions and their physical manifestations – to bring your full, conscious awareness to the fear. Just be with the feelings, without judgment or resistance.  Resistance creates blockages and gives rise to other emotions. Once you come to accept the fear/situation, you move to a place of greater peace and less stress, a place where answers, insights and guidance come naturally.

By simply being with the fear and its effects, you will notice that the grip the fear had on you will already start to let up.  You have brought your conscious awareness to the situation and this allows you to dis-identify with it.  The fear is not you, you are observing it and therefore it loses its power over you.  

Next time, we are going to look a Step 3 – Owning the fear.

Freedom from Fears - Step 1

For those of you who joined the Living Fear-Free teleseminar, you heard me talk about my 5-step process to help you experience more freedom and gain insights from your fears.  Starting today, I will be sharing a short summary of each step so that you can start to practice them yourself.

Step 1 is to identify the fear.  This may sound pretty basic but I suggest that you write it down in a journal, this will force you to really think about it and name it.  Too often fears can stay vague and this makes them harder to deal with.  This step also includes doing a little digging to make sure you have gotten to the core or the sub-conscious fear.

Here is an example of a journaling exercise.  You may start by writing; ‘my fear is not being well enough to look after my family and myself’.  Then you ask yourself - what if that happened?  You might write down ‘I would be a burden on my family’.  Then again, ask yourself - what if that was true?  ‘I would feel weak and inadequate’.  You can continue with this line of questioning until you reach the core fear.  If you felt weak or inadequate then what would happen?  ‘I would feel guilty and feel like I have let my family down’.  When you feel you have gotten to the end, you would rewrite your fear and it might sound something like this; ‘I am scared of feeling inadequate and letting my family down’.  Your core fear statement is likely going to be more emotionally charged than the one you started with.

This is step one on the road to greater freedom, next time I will talk about step 2 – Accepting your fear.  This means being with the fear and feeling it without judgment.

Part 2 of a 2-Part Article Her Miraculous Healing Now we come to the part of Anita’s story that is more difficult to wrap our rational mind around. How could the physical healing that Anita experienced happen so quickly? Her organs were shutting down, she had lesions all over her body, she had large tumors but all this healed rapidly (the lesions took a bit more time but they too eventually disappeared and she did not need the plastic surgery the doctors were recommending).
